A One-of-a-Kind Experience for Young Musicians

The Concerto Workshop gives advanced Suzuki students and alumni the rare chance to step into the shoes of a soloist — performing their concerto movement with a full string orchestra in one of London’s most prestigious halls.

Unlike a concert, this is a behind-the-scenes learning experience: a safe, supportive environment where students are coached through the process of becoming a soloist. Mistakes are welcome, nerves are normal, and growth is celebrated.

What Students Gain

  • The experience of performing with orchestra (and not just piano accompaniment).

  • Coaching in stagecraft, projection, communication, and presence.

  • A chance to explore how a concerto really works.

  • Support from leading Suzuki teachers and peers.

  • The memory of playing in Duke’s Hall — a milestone in itself.

Opportunities for Participation

🎻 Soloists

  • Up to 15 spots available (first come, first served).

  • Perform your favourite concerto movement by memory.

  • Recommended: listen to orchestral recordings in preparation.

  • Non-Suzuki concertos may be accepted by prior enquiry.

  • Fee: £85 (LSG members) | £100 (BSMA & other students)

🎶 Orchestra Only

  • Open to Book 7 / Grade 8+ students with good sight-reading.

  • Play alongside teachers and advanced peers, supporting the soloists.

  • Coached through playing together in real time.

  • Fee: £30

The Venue: Duke's Hall – Royal Academy of Music

The Royal Academy of Music (RAM) is one of the world’s leading conservatoires, training generations of musicians who go on to perform in top orchestras and concert halls across the globe.

Our workshop takes place in Duke’s Hall, the Academy’s flagship concert venue. With its beautiful acoustics and historic atmosphere, it has hosted countless performances by internationally renowned artists as well as the Academy’s own students.

For our young Suzuki musicians, playing in Duke’s Hall is not just an exciting experience — it’s a chance to step into a space where professional careers begin, and to imagine their own musical journeys reaching new heights.

We are very excited to be at the Duke's Hall this year for the Concerto Workshop and its beautiful acoustics.
